Jodi Barr is a longtime Roaring Fork Valley resident, parent, grandparent, volunteer, community member and above all an advocate for children.
She has been working with children since the age of sixteen. Jodi started making granola for her children in her preschool as an alternative to unhealthy foods which led to the creation and development of Mrs. Barr's Natural Foods. Her product is now found in several healthy foods stores throughout Colorado.
Jodi is running for schoolboard director desiring to model her business vision into her public school district. Her founding principles are:
Excellence in Academics. Every child deserves a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, and critical thinking. We need effective curriculum, strong teacher support, and high expectations so our students are prepared not just to pass tests, but to succeed in life.
Student Wellness. Strong minds require strong bodies. That means safe schools, access to nutritious food, regular exercise, and hands-on opportunities like school gardens where children can learn about health and sustainability. When we support wellness, we help students thrive inside and outside the classroom.
One Community Working Together. Parents, teachers, and community members must be partners in building great schools. The resources are here in our community—we just need the willingness to come together, listen, and take action. When schools and communities work hand-in-hand, everyone wins—especially our kids.
As a board member, Jodi will work to bring effective curriculum, strong teacher support, and high student excellence expectations.
